A Small Town’s Dark Tale
Every small town across the United States has its local spook story. But the legend of Tommy Bixon, from Ajo, Arizona, is one of tragedy, terror, and the macabre.
The Star Athlete Drafted
During the Vietnam War in 1967, the draft claimed many young men across America. Tommy Bixon was a healthy, 23-year-old star athlete of Ajo. He excelled in boxing, wrestling, football, and baseball. When not playing sports, he hunted in the desert.
One day, the draft news showed Tommy’s birthday was selected. Nervous but proud, he reported for duty and was shipped to Vietnam.
Soldier and Prisoner
Tommy was a good soldier, selected for Special Forces Group (SFG) operations. Unfortunately, he was captured and tortured in ways beyond description. The horrors he endured shattered his mind. War had taken his humanity.
The Town Mourns
Declared MIA in 1977, the town mourned their favorite son. Over time, people took down banners honoring Tommy and tried to heal.
Strange Disappearances Begin
One summer, strange disappearances occurred. Kids and adults vanished without explanation. Sightings of a man in a tattered Army uniform carrying a large survival knife, an Army-issued KABAR, spread fear.
The Terrifying Return
One local ran into town hall screaming, “He’s back! I saw him! Tommy’s back! But he’s not him! He’s something else!” The man was committed for his safety.
Horror on Fourth Street
That fall, a girl saw a man holding a large knife standing at the edge of the desert as darkness swallowed the land. It was Tommy Bixon, looking like a rotted zombie with wild hair, his old cowboy hat dirty and bloody, uniform torn but his KABAR well-kept.
The girl screamed as Tommy dragged her into the desert. Despite a chase, Tommy disappeared into the night, and the girl was never seen again.
Fear Grips the Town
More disappearances followed. Graffiti appeared on the high school wall, written in blood:
“WHY DID YOU FORGET ABOUT ME!?”
The town froze in fear, wondering if Tommy had returned to punish them for forgetting him.
The Abandoned Hospital’s Secret
In the mid-90s, workers preparing to demolish the old hospital discovered a grisly basement morgue. Human remains of over 100 people were found, some nailed to walls and tables—some recent. Terrified, workers fled, and the hospital remains untouched.
A Warning for Visitors
Tommy Bixon’s ghost story was real. He took revenge on anyone unfortunate enough to cross his path—vengeance for being forgotten.
If you visit Ajo, Arizona, and see a man in the desert overlooking town, leave before sundown. Don’t roam at night, avoid the abandoned hospital, and stay out of the desert. Tommy’s hunting skills make him a relentless predator.
Is he a zombie or a vengeful spirit? No one knows. The only way to stay safe is to stay away.
